Recently, I had a strategy call with a client who wanted to offer a free lesson from their Kajabi course as a lead magnet. It’s a fantastic idea, but they were planning to host this lesson as a product within Kajabi. While this might seem convenient, it actually creates an extra step for your audience—they have to log in to Kajabi before they can access the content.
The Problem with Requiring a Login
Here’s why this can be a problem:
- Friction in the Process: Every additional step you ask your audience to take increases the chances that they’ll drop off. Asking them to log in creates a barrier that might prevent them from accessing your free content.
- Reduced Engagement: If people have to log in, they may decide to “check it out later” and never actually consume the content, which defeats the purpose of the lead magnet.
- Missed Opportunity: The whole point of offering a free lesson is to build trust and provide value upfront. If people don’t engage with the content, they won’t get the chance to experience what you have to offer.
- A Simple Solution: Use a Landing Page
Instead, I recommended hosting the free lesson directly on a landing page. This way, your audience can access the content immediately, without needing to log in. Here’s why this approach works better:
- Instant Access: Your audience can view the lesson right away, making it more likely they’ll consume and engage with the content.
- Improved User Experience: The fewer barriers there are, the better the experience for your audience. A smooth, frictionless process leads to higher engagement.
- Increased Conversions: When people can easily access your content, they’re more likely to take the next step—whether it’s signing up for your course, joining your email list, or making a purchase.
How We Implemented This Strategy
We set up a list-building funnel using a landing page to host the free lesson, and it’s already proving to be an effective strategy. The client has seen an increase in engagement and is building a more robust email list as a result.
