For over 20 years I over-drank. I had a career, a marriage, three kids, a nice home. Nobody would have looked at me and seen a problem. But I knew.
I remember one night coming home from work — I had sworn to myself I wasn't drinking that night — and walking straight to the kitchen, grabbing a whole bottle and a wine glass, and locking myself in my bedroom. I sat on the floor until I'd numbed everything enough to feel okay. When I finally came out, the kids were already in bed.
That was the moment I understood what alcohol was actually costing me.
It wasn't long after that I got the support I needed and everything changed. Not because I white-knuckled it. Not because I swore off alcohol forever. Because I finally understood what was driving the behavior and learned how to work with my brain instead of against it.
That was eight years ago. Today I don't drink at all — and I have zero desire to. More importantly, I've helped thousands of women get to that same place of freedom. Whatever that looks like for them.
