ABA Accreditation Requirements Are Here. Is Your Agency Ready?

Indiana and Massachusetts are currently the two states with active, state-mandated ACQ accreditation requirements for ABA providers.

In Indiana, existing providers must submit documentation showing they have begun the accreditation process by August 1, 2026. Full accreditation is required by October 1, 2027. Failure to provide documentation will result in Medicaid enrollment being deactivated.

In Massachusetts, center-based ABA providers must be fully accredited by January 1, 2027. All other ABA providers have until January 1, 2028.

It is also worth noting that BHCOE has been acquired by CASP, the parent organization of ACQ, and the two accreditation frameworks are in the process of being unified under the ACQ name. Organizations currently holding BHCOE accreditation will have their status honored through the transition, but reaccreditation going forward will move through ACQ.

The accelerator is designed to help organizations prioritize strategically so they can focus their time and energy where it matters most.

We are also finding that many organizations share similar operational gaps and implementation challenges, which allows the accelerator to provide structured guidance around the systems organizations most commonly struggle to operationalize.

Just like in clinical work, there is no one-size fits all path to success. Many organizations will require more than one cycle to fully build, implement, monitor, and refine their accreditation-related systems — and that is completely expected.

Some organizations prefer to complete one cycle, continue implementing the framework independently, and return only if additional support is needed. Others choose to participate in additional cycles for continued structure, guidance, accountability, and refinement as their systems evolve over time.

The accelerator is intentionally designed to support both approaches.

In addition, organizations will retain community access for up to 6 months after their cohort ends, allowing continued access to tools, resources, and ongoing discussion support as implementation continues internally.

That information can actually make implementation efforts more focused and strategic.
